Entrepreneurial Fellows Program
The Slater Entrepreneurial Fellows program is a joint initiative between the Slater Technology Fund and the National Science Foundation’s Rhode Island Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (R.I. EPSCoR) designed to encourage entrepreneurship in emerging technology industries in Rhode Island. The program funds up to six internships per semester and works to engage graduate and upper-class undergraduate students at the state’s universities in the venture development process.
Fellows actively participate in commercial ventures by interacting with academic researchers and venture capital professionals to understand the process of start-up formation, entrepreneurial team recruitment, business plan development, raising capital, and commercialization strategies implementation. Designed to help integrate the next generation of entrepreneurs into the knowledge-based economy in Rhode Island, the program seeks to better inform students of the career development options available within the local research enterprise, and is part of Slater’s ongoing commitment to connecting world-class research efforts with opportunities for commercialization.
